Bethany moved to Fort Wayne over three years ago and quickly connected with the city. She became involved in the community and started a company called Headwaters Lifestyle Co. “When I moved here, I fell in love with this city. I wasn’t planning on staying but now I don’t plan on leaving. I bought a house in the 46807 and I am here to stay. I think that Fort Wayne is way too cool of a city and there are too many great things happening for there not to be more opportunities to show our Fort Wayne pride. I am the Associate Director of Student Involvement at Indiana Tech. The student body here is diverse, extremely engaged, and energetic. There is a lot of positive energy. There are many students that didn’t know much about Fort Wayne before moving here for school, and when I take people out to experience Headwaters Park or Promenade Park, a lot of time they are surprised because they didn’t realize how much there really is to do here. That’s a big joy for me. I love exposing students to the real Fort Wayne. There’s been so many people working behind the scenes on all different scopes and sizes of projects that contribute to where we are now. I love the community and people. Of course, there are great events and parks but for me it’s the people that live here and their passion for this place that really makes Fort Wayne great. That’s what Headwaters Lifestyle is about, connecting with people and telling their stories. I think that the biggest thing for me is to see someone express their pride in Fort Wayne. Coming in from the outside and seeing how awesome this city is, I think that it’s possible for those that have lived here a long time to not be aware of how great this place is because it’s been a gradual growth. I think that the shirts, the flag, and the products that I create at Headwaters Lifestyle Co. allow locals to own this city because it really is awesome and a great place to be. I sell them online, at pop-ups, and at Visit Fort Wayne. The flag belongs to this city. When you wear the shirts, you feel more ownership and a sense of belonging. That is exactly what Fort Wayne is all about.” #PeopleofNEI
