Letter from the Editors: A staff transition is underway at Input

Hi Input Readers,

We hope your 2023 is off to a great start. We’re excited to announce a staff transition is underway here at Input Fort Wayne.

After five years as Input’s founding Managing Editor, Kara Hackett is moving on to a new role within our team and our parent company, Issue Media Group.

Input’s former assistant editor, Brittany Smith, will step in to lead Input as Managing Editor, starting this week.

Brittany is a 2020 graduate of Purdue Fort Wayne. She’s been working with and learning from Kara for the past year. She’s excited to step up and continue connecting with the communities in Northeast Indiana. Brittany previously worked for Northeast Indiana Public Radio and participated in the College Input program.

“Kara has created a strong legacy and reputation for Input Fort Wayne,” says Brittany. “I am honored and excited to be carrying that on as the next managing editor.”

Kara has been training Brittany for over a year now and felt ready for the next step in her career. Kara will be less involved in the day-to-day production of Input, but she’ll still be involved behind the scenes and write on occasion, too. She will also be starting The Local, a business of her own, this spring.

A quick note about our titles and roles: Kara’s title with Input is now Editor-At-Large. You can reach her at [email protected]. If you email [email protected], you will now reach Brittany.

That’s all for now, Readers. Thanks for your interest and support of what we’re doing here. We’re excited about what the future holds—for Input, for our team, and for Fort Wayne as a whole.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Have a good week!

Sincerely,

Brittany Smith,
Managing Editor
&
Kara Hackett,
Editor-At-Large
