Aaron, 27, is an entrepreneur that was born in Mexico but has lived in Fort Wayne since he was four years old. He founded his company, Hyprnova, and attributes his success to the neighborly actions of those living in northeast Indiana. He is passionate about being an entrepreneur and loves helping others to chase their dreams. “I have lived here since 1995. My parents moved my younger brother and I here, and we only spoke Spanish. The Mexican culture here was minimal. We have had so much help. People recognized how hard-working and honest my parents are, and they reached out. It’s very neighborly here. I love the growth. You’ll never hear me complain about all of the construction that is happening here. Growth is transformation. Trust me; you don’t want construction to stop. I have jumped into my life here since I was a kid. I learned all my English at Fairfield Elementary in a few months because I just wanted people to like me and when you’re five years old, everyone seems nice. After 9/11, everything changed. It was harder to get a driver’s license or complete a FAFSA because of where I was born. I grew up going to Starbucks and American Eagle just like everyone else, but I felt like I didn’t fit in until DACA took the stress away. It gave hope for a lot of people. I found a good job and had insurance for the first time in my life. It’s the American dream. I’m not a rule breaker and now I can do things by the book. Without it, you’re forced to figure it out. It does a lot to you feeling like you never fit in growing up. That’s why I love inclusion. It’s important to go out and find other perspectives. It’s not going to come to you. Marginalized people feel the glares and stares. You gotta jump into it. When you do, it will make a world of difference. Everyone just wants to go to bed safe with their family. That’s the one thing we all want. If we focused on that instead of what divides us, we would all be happier and live much richer lives. I feel like I can have a full life in Fort Wayne now. I have seen the shift. I almost moved away but now I’m committed to our future and I’m not running away from everything we can create in northeast Indiana.” #PeopleofNEI
