Keli and her husband Chad are the owners of Trubble Brewing and she is the VP of Northern Indiana Beer Trail. They are preparing to open their second location with Trubble Riverside Cafe & Tap on June 21 at Promenade Park (as photographed) in Downtown Fort Wayne. Keli’s story comes full circle in northeast Indiana. “I am from Churubusco and Chad is from North Manchester. I moved to Fort Wayne when I was 19 where I focused on my Biology Degree from IPFW. I ended up working in clinical research in Warsaw. I thought about leaving the area in my twenties, but I had a pivotal moment in Columbia City and I realized how beautiful it was here. I had my own house here at a cost that wouldn’t even allow me to get a studio apartment in other larger areas. I had everything I needed here including family, and I decided to stay. I have no regrets about that. Chad started brewing at home and we were both tired of working for other people. We saw the need for more breweries in Fort Wayne and that, combined with our love for beer, was the motivation. We opened Trubble Brewing in November, 2015. We loved the neighborhood and knew how good it could be. I think there is excitement in the air about Electric Works and the local neighborhoods. There’s so many great houses that are affordable for young couples and so many barriers are being removed. When people come to Trubble, we want them to feel like they are at “Cheers” where people know your name and everyone is welcome. We love supporting local from art to tap handles. Trubble Riverside Cafe & Tap is going to be a great place for the entire family to hang out and all ages are welcome. When I saw the location while enjoying Margarita Mondays on the river last year, it felt like a no-brainer to go after the location and now it really feels like fate. I stayed in northeast Indiana because you are the same person wherever you go. I think what is happening in Fort Wayne is incredible. It is on par with the rest of the country and is becoming a destination. It would be crazy not to be part of it both as a business owner and as a resident.” #PeopleofNEI
