What is Input Fort Wayne?

By definition, “input” is where energy enters a system. At Input Fort Wayne, we’re shining a light on the wave of positive energy in the cities of Northeast Indiana.

Input Fort Wayne is a digital news magazine focused on the dynamic communities, businesses, and residents of Northeast Indiana. We firmly believe in the progress and innovation we see happening in cities around the world, and we feature local thought leaders, sharing their ideas and experiences to contribute to that momentum. Here and beyond.

This work wouldn’t be possible without the support of our national network and regional community partners. We are a publication of Issue Media Group based in Detroit, Michigan, and we are brought to you in partnership with a coalition of local organizations.

Our partners include The City of Fort Wayne, Allen County, Parkview Health, the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center, St. Joseph Community Health Foundation, Indiana Tech, PNC Community Development Banking, Downtown Fort Wayne, Brightpoint, the Build Institute, Visit Wabash County, and the Honeywell Center.

Our national network

Input Fort Wayne is published by Issue Media Group. Incorporated in 2005 in Detroit, Michigan, IMG operates a national network of online media outlets leveraging the power of solutions-based journalism to report on community change. Our publications aim to connect readers to their communities’ most visionary and innovative people, projects, businesses, and organizations – fostering civic capacity, improving understanding of key issues, amplifying underserved voices, and building community attachment during a time of local media decline.

We work with like-minded stakeholders across public, private, nonprofit, and grassroots organizations whose values and missions align with ours through an underwriting model of publishing.  Our journalists connect with community stakeholders through regular listening sessions designed to build trust and shape authentic community stories.

IMG's work has been recognized and supported by leading journalism organizations nationally including INC Magazine, Knight Foundation, Columbia Journalism Review, Facebook, Lenfest Institute, Google, Solutions Journalism Network, Ground Source, and Society for Professional Journalists.

Why Fort Wayne?

Fort Wayne is a place where people make things happen. We’re “the city that saved itself,” and we have a long history of building things from the ground up. Farnsworth mass-produced the first televisions here. General Electric did the same with stoves, refrigerators, and washing machines.

While the heyday of our manufacturing era might be in the past, the do-it-yourself spirit of innovation lives on as we forge a new identity for a new time.

Today, our energy is expressed in bold startups, places, projects, and ideas all around us in Northeast Indiana. As the people behind these efforts, we have something to say. We have stories that offer inspiration and hope, spark conversations, and light our way into the future.
